Thread Starter | 2x12 cab wiring mystery I just got a 2 x 12 guitar cab with 2 8ohm Jensen C12Q speakers. I want the cab to be 4ohms to match my head so I want them wired in parallel. I know for parallel it should be: sp1 + to sp2 + to tip sp1- to sp2 - to sleeve Here is how it was wired this combo to the tip: sp1 + sp2 - this combo to the sleeve: sp1 - sp2 + after rewiring it to parallel, the speaker going to the jack is much more quiet than the other? Any ideas? What was the way it was wired before? Could that have damaged one of the speakers?

| If I'm following correctly the way it was wired before was in parallel but with the two speakers out of phase with each other. Doesn't really make sense. Are you positive? Possibly the terminals are marked improperly. I remember using a battery to connect to the two speaker terminals to check polarity (it has been eons since I've done it) and you may have to do that to check your speakers. Of course double, triple check your connections with an ohm meter. |
