| Gear Head | Adam Tweeter im intressted in obtaining two of these. for future speakerbuilding/experimental building. Im not sure, but i think i recall spotting more than a couple of thousand Adam Fans on here... so i figured, if i should turn anywhere but to Adam themselves it's here... ![]() Also, im curious if there are more simliar band tweeters. not that they sound the same neccessarily, but i like the whole principle of how they move air. it not only sounds very pleasing and doesnt get my ears numb and tired after a while, it's intellectualy pleasing to know how they work aswell. I might, probleley will, buy a pair of ANF10s or maybe A7 depending on budget, sometime, but would also like to build my own pair of speakers sometime. Also curious on wether or not its the same tweeter in the A7 as the big phat expensive ones, S3A etc... it sure looks like it anyway. from reading tech stuff. Thank you. |

| The tweeter is a monopole version of the Heil Air Motion Transformer, and was extremely popular in the '70's as used in speakers from ESS. ESS still makes both the dipole and monopole versions of that driver, if you like to roll your own. ADAM hasn't reinvented the wheel, they just put it to good use. I believe Eaton of Germany makes their version of the AMT. |

| Moderator | I'm not sure about the choice of midrange chassis. I was going for a pair of paper or titanium domes but I don't know anymore. They need to be fast, and precise to keep up with the tweeters. ATCs I will buy when I win the lottery, next weekend.
