"Best" or "Your Fave" dual op amp ???

I need some better op amps. I have SIP ... but SOIC or DIP might work if i can find the little pin converters.

What dual op amps do you like and which do you not?

You gotta watch changing op-amps. Stability can get you in a bind. I had a commercial (Sony) MD player with a last-minute op-amp swap and it oscillated. I've done it to mixing boards and trying to find that op-amp that's oscillating at 6 MHz can be tough when the power rails all deliver the signal throughout the board and everything looks like it's oscillating. Ouch.

Anyways, I've liked the single op-amp LT1115 but it depends what for. It's quiet. I generally like the Linear Tech stuff but it's a bit expensive. The adapter board would need to be for two singles, though. They have duals but they don't perform as well as the singles. I've used the National LM833 and it's ok but its stability is marginal. Watch the capacitive loading on it.

LM833.

Works specially nice for eq's - maybe because of it's low openloop distortion.

I like the National LM6172 as the best bipolar dual opamp. 3000 v/us slew rate, 90 db open loop gain at 10k hz, low noise, 100 mhz bandwidth, 100 ma output current, what's not to love?

BTW, they're a real bitch to stablize sometimes. Try some if you need to make a 10 mhz oscillator!

Does anybody know of a superior replacement for these Japenese op-amps: NJM4560's (which are SIP devices) ???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are plenty of devices in 8 pin DIP but the SIP package is a bit of a problem. Analog Devices and Burr Brown do not do the SIP style, so what you have already maybe the best option.

My favourite is the AD OP275 dual.

Have you tried that against the Burr Brown OPA 404KP ? ... i found the latter better in my old console. better being subjective in this case

I haven't tried the OPA404KP yet, but it does look good. It's a quad though, not a dual. Which could make it even more special for upgrades, since good quads are so hard to find.

LIKE AD 249, BB 2604. Not so much the BB 2134.

The specs are not the end all to the sound. Better use your ears.
