By the looks of it the only difference I can see is that the 1066 has adjustment for the line level input as well as the mic level input. The 1070 is fixed gain on the line input. There was probably a Line level control on the console that the 1070 was made for.

Its a similar comparison to the 1073 and the 1099. The 1099 ws made for the 8024 console and there was a line level adustment on the meter bridge above each channel , instead of on the module.

Post Neve 1070 uses mic input for mic and line.

I was testing a pair of Neve 1070 modules yesterday.

It turns out that the mic input accepted line level just fine.
The red, knob at the top adjusted the line level.

With a microphone in the mic input, the gain can be
turned way up by the same knob.

Phantom power was available at all times.

The two modules and a rack will wind up on ebay next week.

Hi

About 3.25 inches!

The 1070 is, I think... it was a long time ago I last saw one... a 12" high module and the 1066 was 8.75" high. I have a suspicion that it was also manufactured in 8.75"size but kept the same number!

Also, the 1070 was made for custom BBC TV consoles with a single input covering mic and line region levels but with the mic input impedance on all settings.

These are the 12" version...

I think the EQ was the same as the 1066 but I left Neve 21 years ago and it's hard to remember the little details!

Anyone at the AES is welcome to pop by at Booth 1326 and see me with my new toys! I'm just back at my hotel after the GearSlutz dinner.

Great food!
