| DIY Mid field monitors I am looking to build some mid-field monitors for my studio. I have found a few great sites but and not entirely sure what would be the best one to build. The monitors will be used for the "please the client" volume, tracking guitars, bass etc.. Looking for something pro looking and sounding. Thanks

| i'll assume that your beyond being talked out of this.... true??? to get a great sound outta there aint all that easy... witness the plethora of really terrible monitors out there.... that being said i would check out the DIY audiofool sites.... take care in calculating the internal volume of the cab and what your chosen drivers require... and what ever you do DONT cheap out on the crossover.... bad caps and cheap inductors will not a monitor make.... |

| This is something I would rather not do.... but unfortunately I live in Brasil and the price of a pro pair mid field monitors is the price of my car. I don't the best monitors in the world.. just something to kill my clients with. I am happy using my genelecs 100% of the time but all of the metal bands just want more volume

| Oi Amigo ! Hey. I cant afford mid field monitors either. I asked the slutz and then procured JBL4311s and then some extra parts. Total was about $500. For the sound and the loud WOW factor I don't think they can be beat. They are PA loud with a Hafler DH500 powering them. Also the imaging and sound is so good that I often mix with them. Mixes translate well other than the transients being slow and reverb being a bit masked. Wonderful speakers. Really. You can also get a pair of those Ureis that everyone had as bigs before. It is expensive to build a nice pair. May as well get some devalued used ones. You could also do JBL L100s for even more cheapness. Regards friend. Anda com cuidado ! |
