they need new caps. Going to drop in Panasonic FC.
These are a bit sweeter than the MK3d (picture below) I got. I want to put 16 Filteks in my desk. Not sure which ones. Go all Filtek MK3d? Or also 4 of these? I'll have to sell the rest. Someone suggested 24 channels, that is also possible if I win the lottery.

Not all that special, TO-5 IIRC.. a little more power dissipation than TO-19, same small die inside.

Sennheiser MKH 80, this unit presumably is from the mid-Nineties...
Pictures were taken with a flatbed scanner, hence there's some dust etc...

Just for the heck of it (I'm duplicating CDs and I'm bored), here's the inside of something cheap... An SM Pro Audio PR4V mic preamp, a real el-cheapo, just bought it to see what it will do and as an emergency backup...

| M XXXX 50 watt proto
Here's one of my 50 watt universal bias protos, teflon wire throughout, hand bent and cut .1" aluminum chassis, designed with layout upside down and backwards so tubes are upright and jacks are on the left (all by me of course) and filter caps on the inside. It sounds great through a 4-12 cab:

Have you guys seen the photos of the guts of the Elysia compressors (the Alpha and the Mpressor)? Go to elysia: HIGH END AUDIO and click on each product, then on the TECHNOLOGIES tab. You can click on the little photos scattered through the text to see big glorious photos of the insides of these things. Really well done.

35 watt class A dual channel guitar amp guts. If you think "old school class" impossible to match evil feline, you might figure out who designed this.
Real point to point.
I would like to claim design credits, but it wasn't me.

This is only a 5 watt amp. Pretty tight package. Fits into a 10x6x2 chassis.
All tube. This one is mine.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
So folks could see the wiring, I've considered making the bottom covers of the gear from mesh or perforated steel. People wiser than I, have advised me to avoid doing so.
That's why I like Gearslutz. Folks who like guts. |
