As much as I obsess about the safety, code compliance, and tidiness inside my gear, it's kind of reassuring to see how little of that is going on inside of one of the most popular compressors out there.

Not extremely well built by me, but it works and sounds great!
A four channel green pre:

And also a big mess, the nevpi 31272 neve/api 4 channel preamp (or what to call it?). 2ch 1272:ish pre, 2ch api 312:ish pre. The di inputs doesnt work on the 1272 (toasted 2n4416 transistor that i havent gotten around to changing yet because its a major pita doing anything in that box).

Yes, thats a messy bench, i know.

Coming up soon: 8channels of baby animal preamps, then im off to diy compressor land.

The ATTY 2'D

The point-to-point wiring and metal film resistors are probably under that green board...

Mmmmm, no. That's all there is. It's a very simple circuit.

API 312

My pair of API 312's with Hardy 990's and upgraded caps. Nicely done by a good friend and fellow gear pig.

That be correct they are MAPs. They sound great. Nice and tight, clean with a nice sweetness in the lowish mids (500-800Hz ish) that I can't quite pin down but I really love. They sound great with my radial DI into them on bass. Nice on Acoustic guitar and I've got plans to put them on Kick and snare soon (haven't had a chance yet but i'm very excited about it!) The Hardy 990's really open them up in place of the 2520's that were there. Very clean, but if you push them a bit they get a bit of charachter to them. Never really distorted just sweeter. Not to mention that they're HOT The output pretty much obliterates anything I put it into. I can EASILY clip the input of my monitoring console with the pad on BOTH units (the desk and the pres) without even trying.. It's great for the lower output of the radial.

Tim;

I can't contribute: IMG tag is disallowed...

Otherwise I could save them on my server and include a link (I guess 800x600 is optimal, right?)

Otherwise I could save 800x600 on my server and show here without consuming your server space.

mmm
I save all the photo's (that are worthwhile) to my harddisc anyway.
and this is like opnening little surprises
I think large nice photos is cool, but I'd rather have thumbs than crashing servers..
(remember last year - that was not fun)

sorry guys, I think there's other improvements possible, like clickable audio
