microphone ringing

I just picked up a second CMV563 and now realize that the one I had for a while, when the body of it is tapped it seems to ring. The body seems to amplify the tapping. Any comments about this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Perhaps the internal dampening pads / foam is either missing, incorrectly placed or decomposed. Likewise any shock mounting for the capsule may be incorrect.
If you are brave you could open up the old one and see what goes on. If it opens easily, you could perhaps examine the new one and compare them.
Otherwise get it refurbished by a microphone 'technician'.
