Fender Princeton tubes etc.

Hi, I just got a 1969 fender Princeton Reverb amp. It puts out a very low signal almost not audible. Could it be the power tubes?

entirely possible... but not necessarily...there are only 5-6 tubes int he thing anyway so why not do a retube all the way around???? are all the tubes glowing???? if not those are suspect... if you are expecting to keep this for awhile (who wouldn't) then i'ld ask around your area and find a reliable tech ... have him check it out as it seems your not all that into it and would be good to at least start from a known position...

Could be anything, but you hear at least something. That's a good sign that nothing expensive is broken.

I suggest you'll look for a tube tech and let him fix the amp. Even if a set of new tubes brings the amp back to life, it should be checked. He should also change the electrolyte caps. They are most likely dried out.

Don't try to fix it on your own unless you know what you're doing :-)

...except interwinding shortage in output tranny, for example...

That's right.
