Which is what the results actually were, so definitely people are picking correctly... IE the difference IS audible...

Agree.
I get this sense of difference between anaolg summing and ITB summing.
It just feels more 3D (depth & width) with the analog summing.
It's not something I can really put my finger on but it 'feels' different.
Sounds weird I know but....
I do have amazing monitoring though (Miller & Kreisel 2.1 system)

Would love to have a listen next time I'm up the east coast...

Do you have much experience with standalone summing boxes or just use the desk?

This is a 2ru stand alone summer based on a 5000 series SSL bus card.
Uses Virtual Earth summing.
DSUB ins and XLR outs.

And you're welcome to come anytime for a listen / play.
Just contact me first to make a time - it's pretty crazy busy these days.

wow i'm really surprised i got it right Listened with behringer truths and cheapest cables i could find.
I was hoping that #1 would have been ITB, it would have made my life alot easier. Working at a McJob and getting a SSL for personal use only is not a good combo.
But seriously, i might sound overdramatic here, but i would not have been able to finish mix #2 as it would have sounded too flat. I would have struggled too much while trying to figure out how to make it more deep and musical.
But with #1 i would have been tapping my foot all the time and having fun. Contrary to those people who say that the differences were small, i must say that boy ITB sucks a??

Is it worth the money seeing as though most people are going to listen to the material through shitty speakers anyways?

Did you used oversampling on VCC? It sounds like it is not active.

Lol
Another defeatist.
Yeah why bother with good gear at all.
Just record to cassette portastudio, it's just gonna be an mp3 played through a laptop in the end.

The point is to get it to sound as good as it possibly can even through those shitty speakers. That's what the expensive gear helps you do. Anyway I'm actually apprehensive about this test cause a plug like VCC needs to be mixed through to get the best results. Just slapping the plugin on a completed mix will not really make things better. In fact it may even muddy the mix.
