3 is clearly ssl, these people don´t know how to listen. Kick is snappier and rest of low end muddy free. It is not so evident in this kind of soft music, harder stuf (rock) will benefit when kick cuts thru.

1 Itb

Or maybe you just "don't know how to listen."

Spending money on an SSL Console $150,000
Spending time and money learning that console better than anyone else, another $150,000
Telling and showing everyone at Gearslutz that you know that console sound better then anyone there and waisting time and money typing it, $30

Being wrong and owned at the same time in front of every one here, well that's,

PRICELESS!!!

It's all good, take it like a man. I was way off too.
Digital has come a long way my friend.

I perfect 1 overall

3 is my second fav.

On the guitar solo parts file 2 seem to be equal to the other 2 files.

The vocals and separation is most obvious during the 1st verse, this is where file 2 fall short.

1 and 3 are both pretty good,I hear slight sparkle that I like in files 1 over 3.

1. SSL
2. VCC
3. ITB

I am listening on my ipad. This makes it hard as hell, but is realistically probably how a consumer might hear this song.

1. Is my favorite. Has a punch and aliveness that is pleasing to my ears.

That is my preference too.

1: Biggest stereo image and 3dness with good low end.
2: Kind of less stereo and medium focus, very frontal sound.
3: more bassy than 1 and 2 with less stereo width and 3dness than 1.

2. VCC
3. SSL

I'm excited to hear the answer! :D

3: VCC

I thought that number one was a little more spacious and the other two seemed almost identical. They all sounded VERY similar though.

This happened six months ago, but here is my answer.

1. Slate
2. Analog
3. ITB

I didn't really hear it until the harmonica solo.

#2 everything seated best behind it, imo.

#3 everything was more up front and competing for attention. ITB?

#1 I am naming this one Slate plug in because I liked it less than #2, but it was almost identical.

I don't think I could tell the difference between them without careful scrutiny. I think there may be some material where the differences are greater.

Oh, what the hell ...

1. ITB
2. SSL
3. VCC

I used a special evaluation method, probably unlike anyone else's.

How lovely and insightful of you to say so!

I didn't listen to any of the samples. I just made an educated guess based on reading others' comments of what they were hearing. Meta-listening.

First thing that crossed my mind is that I wouldn't pay more than $1 for one over the other.

No. 3 sounded a bit more vibey, so I'm guessing it's the SSL.
No. 2 sounded a bit more coloured or grainy (in not so good a way, to my ears), so I'm guessing it's the VCC.
No. 1 sounded a bit dryer/sharper, so I'm guessing it's ITB.

...I'm hoping 3 is ITB.

...On second thoughts I think 1 is the SSL, 2 is ITB and 3 is VCC (though for the same reasons I previously stated).

1 & 2 gel better than 3. 3 is a little bit too separated sounding for this kind of record IMO, esp. the snare stick out a bit (in #3) while it is more part of the whole kit in #1&2.

I have slight preference with #2, I like the fullness.
#1 is close and a bit clearer.
#3 boring in comparison to 1&2, but ok on it's own. But then it is the way you mix it, some small adjustments with EQ (and maybe compression/saturation) would make it closer to 1&2.

As I have no expirience with ssl or slate, I won't try to guess the names (it would be pointless).

1) SSL
2) ITB (pretty sure of this one!?)
3) VCC

I really like 1 with a close second on 3... it just seems deeper!?

Please PM me as soon as you can, dying to know!

Thanks for results.

I just want to add that after a few extra listens over the past 2 days (they cycled to on my iTunes once or twice by accident, so I redid the test for the laugh), I found the initial vibe of 3 became a bit more tiresome and unnatural and I began to prefer No. 1 ...also I think 1 would come up better in mastering as the transients are a bit more intact, and the mix is a bit more open; though there's one or two instances of some near-clipping in 1 that would need to be resolved...

Cheers.

1- sounds more glued and natural and pleasant to me. SSL?
2- most unnatural and unpleasant. ITB?
3- tries to sound warm but in a forced way. VCC?

I could be totally wrong though - as like many times with my guesses in these kind of tests. PM please?

I think it's...

1. ITB
2. VCC
3. OTB

I personally tried a similar test using the Waves equivalent (NLS), so my answers are based on what I found with that test. The 2nd one seems to be trying too hard to be "analog" and saturated, which suggests to me that it might be the VCC, while the 1st and 3rd are more open and don't squash the transients, which I found to be true in the previous test. I find the 3rd a bit more open and punchy, which suggests the SSL. Very curious to see if I'm right on this!

My guess is:
A) ITB
B) VCC
C) OTB

At least I like C the best (a lot more than the others), then B then A (not too much difference to my ears).
