Violet Design The Amethyst sample (ac. guitar)

Hello!
I decided to contribute with an acoustic guitar sample (16bit,44.1 khz), taken with the micro Violet Design "The Amethyst" Standard.

Material used:
TL Audio VP1, so the preamplifier "Class A" - Solidstate, on this Channel Strip compressor, filter HPF - 70-80hz, no EQ.
RME Fireface 800
Ac. guitar - Taylor..

I recorded two times for stereo effect.
I hope that you find it useful ...
greetings

Actually, I think this micro fantastic for almost any application. It has an accretion of frequencies in areas of 2-3 kHz and 10-12 kHz, so (depending on the color of the preamp) results in guitars and voices, almost without EQ. I've tried also in the bass and also works well. On battery works for overheads or room ... It's just not suitable for large fonts with spl, because only stand up to 130dB max.
I compared with the AKG C414, and The Amethyst was my choice between the two.
Inclusive, I have a friend who has the Neumann U87, Violet Design The Globe (standard) among several, and the first choice for vocals - The Amethyst is always, with few exceptions ...
I think the strong point of The Amethyst is the presence in the mix.
Saludos Teserac!

I have testet the whole Mic Range of Violet from the swiss distributor and i have never heard such a linear and natural microphone character like they have. my favorit is the Garnet Tube Microphone. i now use it with my neve 1073 and retro 176 in protools and will never give it away.. It`s just a dream setup for me now=)

Hi!

I recently bought the Global Pre with VIN head 47 (which has the characteristic sound of the mythical U47) - the same head that the Garnet. I'm impressed! I'm eager to try recording, acoustic guitar in the 1st opportunity ..! I recorded a guitar folk Brazilian, has a soft and full, I liked that did not make too much noise of the strings - was what was meant in this specific case. The amp I used was BAE 1073MP.
I'm curious how it sounds this head (vin47) with valves - in the case of Garnet ...
greetings

I agree with your findings, except that I think of the Amethyst Vintage as the one with the best vocal sound and the most easy tone for many instruments. Amethyst Standard has a little too much bump in the highs for my taste. Steel strings sound better on the Vintage version too. (There isn't much "vintage" about the Vintage. It's just different because of the double sided capsule, but by far not as "vintage" sounding as the The Globe Vintage.)

Hi!

Regarding the acute frequencies - I agree, actually VIN26 head (the head of Amethyst Standard) the acute are slightly more open (possibly more aggressive) because the curve begins to rise before (10kHz) that the head VIN67 (the same as the Amethyst Vintage) where this acute increase in frequency starts later, ends up having a smoother treble, but maybe that makes the Amethyst Standart more present in the mixture, because the rise in the curve of frequencies in the 10-12 kHz and 2-3 kHz works as "presence" for voice and other instruments like guitars. But really VIN47 that is used in The Globe Vintage is the most different, and actually sound more "vintage". I think those of The Amethyst very similar, and characterized them something like the sound of the Vintage (VIN67) open and "cute", Standard (VIN26) also open, but more present.
