Modded Telefunken AK47 VS tube modded Oktava MK219
The AK47 mkI was modded in the headamp and PSU stage with different capacitors, improved biasing for the tube circuit and a much quieter noise floor, per the customer's request. The construction on this microphone is great. We installed a NOS PIO capacitor in the output coupling cap position and the bass, low mids and overall warmth of the microphone is just gorgeous.
This is done with the stock AK47 capsule btw. This mic is slated to receive an M7 capsule installation.
The Oktava Mk219 was converted to a plate follower tube circuit with a Jensen output transformer and high end capacitors, teflon coated silver wire and a custom PSU.
Both of these recordings were simultaneous and they were performed by Jim @ JJ Audio USA, in Glenwood, Maryland
