WAVES CLA-2A vs Antress Modern Lost Angel

I'm starting this thread from this one: Best vintage sounding EQ plugin that has LP+HP filter?

Don't start any new plugin vs hardware debate I was just asked to compare these two plugins... Waves CLA-2A and the free Antress Modern Lost Angel(LA-2A) plugin. GR was about -10dB. Sorry for the bad volume changes between them, but I think you will notice a big difference. It's a rap verse clip from Guy Gabriel here on GS.

So which sounds better?

Hey, it sounds like the amount of compression was totally different between the two.

Oh sorry... I attached the wrong file. I did 4 clips(heavily and less compressed) cuz of the two reacts different from eachother when you turned the knobs. Both showed -10 GR on the meter. I know you can't trust that. So I did Plugin2 with less peak reduction on the plugin sounding the same compression amount as plugin1 so here's that...

OK. A few things, after you've uploaded the new file they do sound very similar now, with slight differences.
Anyway, I did a test of my own since I already know which one is the Waves plugin and which one is the Lost Angel.
What I did is I've tried to reach the same sound as the Waves with my Lost Angel and it was no problem, in a few seconds I got a sound almost identical.

Oh what a great feeling that is

and thanks chrisjones

Well with a little more tweaks I got them to sound almost alike. Still there's a slight difference.

Well the Plugin1 are Waves and the Plugin2 are Antress. The thing is you can compress alot more with the CLA-2A plugin with the Antress you really have to turn the knob.

I've attached a new file with the CLA-2A plugin(more compression but not turned all the way). So anyone download the Antress plugin and try getting similar results.

I know the file is named CLA76, but it's the CLA-2A... =)

Well now it really doesn't matter what you're using as long as it sounds good.
These days plugins are already sounding great.

96/24 works fine in my system....

And actually, you did again use different settings in the La2A settings, since you clearly have more compression on that one.

Apart from that, I don't own a La2A. And I don't even own one of the big plugins. I can however tell that the Antress Plugin does more than I could ever expect from a free plugin. Not to say I am a fan. But I could use it to work both with complete mixes as well as with vocals and what it does it just makes everything ****ing good.

You don't hear any compression, and not truly a distortion, but you just get an equally dynamic but apart from that more punchy signal. It's a lovely plugin.
