Native algorithmic reverbs plugins Shoot-Out thread

Thanks Johan Bejerholm from World Studios for this dry audio sample which can be used for this shoot-out.

Here it is! The eagerly awaited 24 bit Wav dry file.

http://www.worldstudios.se/DryFileWorldStudios.wav

Here is processed sample using PCM96 which could be the reference point. anyone here can try to reach this result using any native algorithmic reverb plugin and post it here with short description. Processed file could be in mp3 320kb/s format

wavs?

reverb tails die with mp3/compressed formats.

didnt listen yet, not at home. figured I'd save the effort of using the mp3 later :-)

thanks!

Here's a stock Medium Concert Hall from Cubase 5 Reverence:

http://vid.firepixie.com/songs/Cubas...ence_MHall.wav

Didn't tweak anything other than to pull the mix down to 12% wet.

as you can read in 3th post in these thread, only pure algorithmic reverbs are allowed for processing. Reverence is convolution reverb

My bad. I've been using convolution almost exclusively for so long I totally missed that element of the comparison. Since the only other verb I currently use is UAD I'll bow out now.

Here's the dry snip with Eventide Anthology TDM reverb using Hall at 2.2 sec with 10ms pre-delay. The second one is just stock D-Verb TDM with a 1.7 sec Med Hall with a matching 10ms on the pre-delay. Both FX were 100% wet; I adjusted "to taste" via the aux input faders.

Here another, a bit over the top, file. "Large vocal hall" is a 3.00 sec hall. Blend is 30% to let y´all hear the Hardware PCM 96 a bit more. Note the Smooooth decay.

Sounds nice, but more "cold" and more obvious. It is brighter... Less dense.

Yeah, still learning it. It's got its strengths and weaknesses. It certainly lacks the early reflections of the Lex. But after all, it's going up against a frickin' Lexicon PCM96!

Where can I post the .wav? GS only allows up to 6 megs.

Here's the Eos again. Slightly different settings. Mainly a smaller 'size,' tad longer decay, lower low-pass frequency. No pre-delay.

.wav this time.

Download EosMedHallvers2.wav from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

Kind of awkward to compare reverbs using the mp3 format, but here's a file with two different reverbs, using not really comparable settings. I always exaggerate the reverb levels when I check reverbs, so I've done this here as well. The file is normalized.

I hope Virsyn REFLECT 2 with its hybrid technology applies... It takes early reflections from the IR and synthesizes all the rest... I imported Lexicon 480 medium hall IR and quickly tweaked it - set more early reflections than tail as sounds your example and roughly adjusted size, modulation, reverberation time, damping, predelay, diffusion, etc.

Another one is from Lex200 hall IR with the same "algoritmic" settings in Reflect as for the 480 example and another one is TC Fabrik R rough approximation made from its Hall algorithm.

Nice "test", I will probably buy the native version of Lexicon one day, but I can manage with Reflect for now - oh, btw - they have the end of the year discount now. You can get this nice reverb for 129eu, now. (no, I don't work for them, I just really like this plug-in reverb)

Well - i agree, but I had to asked since it's completely impossible to replicate that excessive coloration of the original sound (and you only have a 20% wet signal) with ANY of the reverbs I have.

I would imagine that the preset used is based on the new Hall algorithm?
