Another one is from Lex200 hall IR with the same "algoritmic" settings in Reflect as for the 480 example and another one is TC Fabrik R rough approximation made from its Hall algorithm.

Nice "test", I will probably buy the native version of Lexicon one day, but I can manage with Reflect for now - oh, btw - they have the end of the year discount now. You can get this nice reverb for 129eu, now. (no, I don't work for them, I just really like this plug-in reverb)
The TC fabrik R sounds the best out of the three, way more natural than the other two.

If your particular presets were applied to say an orchestral piece of music, for sure that would work better yes, longer tail hall type would suit that better.

As for trying to recreate all Lexicon types 100% accurate, it seems rather pointless. Lexicon isnt some gospel truth de-facto standard of what reverbs should specifically sound like, I'm sure Bricasti, Quantum and Eventide wouldn't agree either. Each has their flavour, and equally so does plugs like the ArtsAcoustic and Aether (which really sounds like nothing else, totally different direction of what reverbs can be). All of the above capable of lush warm, dense, realistic or droney reverbs.

...man I really need to focus on work again, its scary how many minutes get lost surfing forums. lol
couldnt agree more, if you post a file please try to somewhat match the sound of the first example otherwise it's totally useless, for me at least.

Yeah the ones that didn't try to match it were not really helpful for a shootout. None of the other reverbs could do the lush natural thing that the Lex can. Some sounded pretty good. Most had annoying artifacts. When trying to get as full as the Lex the shortcomings became even more obvious. I'd be curious to demo the Virisyn to see what it can do. I would have been curious to hear an example of the Redline.

There is nothing natural about that reverb sound. Its digital echo's just like every other reverb. I have never heard a room like that in my life and I know why--it doesnt exist--because it is completely UNnatural. I just think your using the wrong word to describe what your hearing.

I dont think anything about that sound is hard to get. Its just a dark digital reverb sound. What people need are the parameters because thats what your demanding to hear. Most of the other verb samples are perfectly fine--but no one has the parameters set right...so they are just not what You want to hear on this vocal

and about the Mp3's. Guys are you not engineers? If not-- get educated because a well encoded Mp3 is perfectly fine for reverb tails--especially verb as dark as this. I think people just like to repeat fallacies because they trusted someone who they thought knew what they were talking about. Think for yourself for cryin out loud.....there is nothing on a vocal even worth hearing where aliasing might occur on the sonic spectrum. This isnt Youtube conversion --is it?

Hi,
I processed the file with 6 different reverbs. Below is a download link for a zip file containing the 6 wavs.

This list does not correspond to the order of the files, I thought it would avoid peoples prejudices ! Altho i'm happy to put the real names of the reverbs up if thats what people want.

Included in the folder is :

Sonnox Reverb
DUY Z Room
UAD Dreamverb
UAD Realverb
CSR Hall

and a TC Reverb 4000.

Hi,
It wasn't to try and get people to guess the names of the reverbs btw, I just thought it would really make people pick the one they liked the most as opposed to just picking the TC 4000 or whatever, if that makes sense lol

But yes, CSR is Reverb No.1

Cheers

Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Plug-in

Here's a 320k clip using Lexicon's PCM Native Reverb Plug-in preset Random Hall - Large Hall 1. It's not as rich sounding as the PCM96 but it's "purdy darn close" in some parts...

I invited Den to join our 1.5 Beta since it was clear (from his earlier posts here) that he is very good at making presets. We think he has a great ear and we have asked him to contribute some presets to the new version along with some other people.

No official details on 1.5 yet. It is coming very soon though. We are just polishing new presets and the user manual at this point.

I managed to get 99,9% close to the original fith Lexicon Native Hall. I believe with more detailed tweaking I could easily come to 100. IMHO there's absolutely no quality difference between PCM96 and PCM Native Bundle, there is also little bit of sound difference because of additional AD/DA conversion but nothing that cannot be conpensated with tweaks of the parameters.

Hang on, I don't need to drag out Logic- I just worked out how to add busses to AU Lab. I did it over again, but I darkened everything with my plug 'Distance' applied just on the verb bus (it's sort of a postproduction tool)

This ought to be a lot nearer the mark- OP target mp3 included for reference. Nearspace is the one to be similar- Farspace is a lot more reverberant than the target example. They both come in this bundle- FarSpace/NearSpace and the darkening was done with Distance but there's no reason you couldn't just use the regular DAW EQ to do it...

Send a message via ICQ to Aerowave
This is Magix VariVerb Pro. I am the author of the preset
I tried to reproduce the MOST ACCURATE sample, located in the first message
So I used a little EQ, stereo expander and saturator, but I post and clean variant

P.S. Anyway Lexicon Only

Sonnox Reverb

I know this thread is a bit old, but I still enjoyed reading the thread and listening to the comparisons. I took a stab at duplicating the sound of PCM96 file using Sonnox. Actually I prefer the settings I ususally use with Sonnox over the target sound here - but I still wanted to see if I could get the same vibe. The stereo field is a bit different but pretty close to the same general vibe.

I took another stab at this with the sonnox oxford reverb and also with CSR. Surprising how CSR is so Lexicon-like in its character - while the Sonnox reverb was not copied/modeled after existing hardware.

This time I mixed the Sonnox reverb to only use the tail and no early reflections - though the early reflections is what I like most about the sonnox, I felt like it came closer to matching the target PCM file with the ER bypassed.
