clock drift, clock jitter, Midi & Audio Drift, etc...
***
This Video its for the Pitch Drift of diferent professional audio WordClocks,
The drift in some consumer clocks its insane, like some onboard laptop soundcards.
this are Top Quality Clocks.

Signal chain for the test::
Clock--A/B/C/D/E-->Lynx AES16 with SynchroLock(TM) Disabled-->AES/EBU-->Drawmer D-Clock.

Clocks Tested:
#1. Alesis Ai-2 the owners manual .pdf say it has +-50ppm, but with clean&stable power of the Furman AR-15 Series ][ it does less than <12ppm depending on the hour of the day tested.
Great Clock, one of the Best, but limited to 44.1KHz/ 48Khz sample rates and 1x BNC out.
#2. Lynx SynchroLock(TM) from AES16, definitive not an AES Grade1 Clock, in fact... far from it.
#3. RME SteadyClock(TM) in this test measures low clock drift, but in other tests, creates sampling errors, that means high jitter.
other tests like audio loop recording saw waves at 10KHz for example.
#4. Roland MMP-2: its a professional Digtal 2-channel strip from the VS2480cd console, it has an standard clock, not the best not the worse, but Alesis Ai-2 is far better clock drift & jitter.
#5. Drawmer M-Clock DMS-1, the first video its for a non calibrated unit...
it happens that shipping vibration, or time, or bad electric power overvoltage can affect the factory calibration.
#6. Drawmer M-Clock DMS-1 Calibrated by hand usign the D-Clock as visial reference.
calibration was done at 44.1KHz & 48KHz, the calibration it needs a bit more & less at "double "x2 & "quad "x4 sample rates, not a big deal, calibration was easy & fun.
and Calibration was confirmed with the Ap Tuner 3 loop test.

Clock Drift Test can also be done with: a generated 440Hz Sine Tone, and with an audio DA-AD loop test.
similar to RMAA Audio Rightmark but... usign AP Tuner 3 to analize the signal.

Signal Chain for Single Soundcard Test:
Windows Media Player/QT Player/Winamp--->DA-->AD--->AP Tuner 3

Take note that Clock Drift & Clock Jitter does accumulate... if usign diferent clocks for AD or DA.
will accumulate more drift & more jitter, out-of-tune/pitch sound and harmonic cancelated sound with sampling errors.

The more accurate the audio clock is, the more accurate the Sound will be, the more accurate you will hear, Mix, Master & Record, even the digital bounce is not affected by the clock.

Clean & Stable Power affects Xtal Clocks TCXO, OCXO.

Cable Quality/Design also affects the harmonics of the high speed Square wave used for clock signal therfor also affecting the coding & decoding inside the AD/DA converter chips.

some cables make the chips to make sound to have more bass/mid bass harmonics like: Apogee Wyde Eye Clock Cables,
some cables make converter chips to sound more transparent in the lows & mids, but enhance the odd harmonics in the highs like: Philips PXT1000 rca-to-rca with copper center bnc-adapters.
... there are some cables that sound verry warmth & transparent, verry Alive & 3D, similar to the Toslink Clock Signal, but better.

If You cannot get a good clock cable, Toslink Clock Signal its the 2nd best option.
But a Good Clock Cable makes the converters to sound amazing, much better than a Toslink Clock Signal.

Every digital cable does affect the harmonics needed in high speed Square wave Clock Signal.
that diference in the harmonics affects the AD/DA converter chips.
cable frequency response, capacitance, resitance, velocity of propagation, shield, EMI, RFI, CMRR, etc...

pretty neat, do you know if there is a piece of freeware that I can get to see the exact output of my clock?
