Why Cables Matter: A Demonstration.

I decided to do a little demo to show some people who might wonder the differences in quality of cable. That, and I really needed an excuse to play w/my new sm7b that just came in the mail today! Anyway I just recorded 5 clips of an amp and everytime I changed one cable. I started w/all crappy cables and added a good one everytime. So you can listen to all of them or just listen to the first and last one to hear the big differences. Also I didn't boost the gain or anything so the clips are somewhat quiet. No settings were changed on anything. Just different cables. Not too scientific but I thought someone might find this informative at the least.

1. all crappy musicians friend specials
2. Guitar to amp: canare GS-6 cable
3. Amp to cab: still no name cable but a big thick no name cable w/gold tips
4. mic to pre: Canare 4-E6s
5. pre to daw: Canare gs-6

Not just not scientific, but not even useful. Maybe you can try a re-amp setup or something? Whatever you do, don't use different performances because that totally invalidates the results.

Agreed, nothing against ya... But Ethan is right. Get out that reamp box... or if you don't have one, there's an excuse to get one! More toys... Mmmmm. Little Labs is a winner in my book.
