Thread Starter | Comparison of AKG 214 and AKG Perception 200
I just got a C214 and it seems to be a hot topic on the board. I ran it through my Saffire Pro pre which I would never use for vocals but it's easier to keep constant than my tube preamps so it'll do. I don't know about the soundclick file but here there is a big difference. The 214 is ten times warmer than the Perception which isn't awsome with me speaking but with someone singing it'll be gold. I like the Perception on some people but more people are too bright and not even with it. SoundClick artist: Revolt Studios - page with MP3 music downloads |

sign in to download is boring, had to use orbit downloader to grab the hi quality file, and use other players. |

Sorry but I find this comparison stupid. A good mic through a garbage pre will still sound like garbage. You need to use a pre that is clean enough where you can tell what it sounds like. Also don't use mp3's. Unprocessed wav's.

I think the pre is really important too, and on the same side as last opinion, however - not sure if U87 would not sound better through some bad sounding pre, than Perception through Manley .. btw + C214, more I use it more i love it. |
