original dry files can be used to test other 1176 emulations, hardware or software from UAD and BombFactory.

Here are a couple of loops ran through a Universal Audio 6176 and through the plug-in for comparison. The mp3's are compressed at 320 kbps but if you want to listen to the uncompressed versions you can get them here (ZIP 24MB).

The hardware, as usual, seems to preserve the transients better. Compared to the plugin the attack is less clicky and the release more natural sounding.

to me, the hardware has some magic in the lows the software does not have, could be the DA-AD converters, who knows.

the plugin sounds verry close.
but could be better.

Hardware too but the GUI+sidechain+parrallel makes me want to compare with UAD 1176LN.


Please, someone remember where the **** are the 1176uad vs 1176hardware demos please ? I can't find them anymore.

The plugin sounds bad to me.

In synth sounds I tried the demo and did not get any useful result. I recently tried the CLA waves demo and I find them much more useful.

Long time but I thought it would be funny to compare to the CLA 1176 so I tried to match the settings by ear (probably not the most reliable method! ), here's the result with the rock beat.
