No BS shootout!

Listen to all 3 and pick the best one.

Red face Better luck next time.

Cheers for the examples, but for me the variations in performance and dynamics of each example (including pitch) make critical comparrison impossible. Generally I can't pick much between them sonically that would make me think one is better than the other.
If you could feed exactly the same audio signal through each then maybe then we'd be able to compare the pre's rather than each performance.

Cheers anyway.

#2 sounds distorted in the highs.

#1 sounds neutral

#3 sounds cheap

Number 1 and 2 sound quite similar to me for some reason.
Number 3 sounds dull
I don't know if I particularly like any of the clips... too thin, edgy, etc.

What mic are you using? What convertors?

#2 is "best". nicer color in midrange, smoother. Less in your face "demo" quality than #1 and #3 samples.

I am hearing more room reflections in two and three (which isn't implicating the preamp but it makes it the clip less neutral). One sounds the most nuetral and most pleasing to me.
