Thread Starter | Fatso samples.
Hi There. I didn't find many samples of this guy (only a handful) so i thought i'd share my demo. The no fatso mix is that before i had tried the device. The fatso mix is somehow now bright but i think way more cohesive. Just learning the device but i its here to stay after the demo. I don't like bright mixes. I think i spent more time on balance external with the fatso. Yes i did use outboard eq (my tg channel). This is not a scientific test. I think the old ITB mix was just plain bad moreso than the fatso mix being good. I don't have time to work on the ITB mix more. I think if i used the fatso less agressively next time the results will be way better. I think its clear though that it brought the tracks together more effortlessly and made them sound more natural sitting together. That was what i was looking for. It makes things more confidant by evening them out a bit but doesn't ruin their dynamics. I only used level control on bass and vocals and those were from the fatso buss compressor, the rest was just warmth and saturation on the fatso. Every track passed through the fatso individually so you'll hear it stacking. Every track passed through tg channels with either a very small amount or decent amount of eq on them. I mixed into the fatso. Its translating more bright than i'd hoped, i do hate bright mixes.. Just need to get used to this box and i think the results will be very pleasing. The hi hat is cutting into the vocal quite a bit on the fatso track. Needs a rebalance, but the cymbal as loud as it is, is much easier to take than in the non fatso track. I didn't use any fatso on the overall mix, just on the individual tracks. Hear for yourselves. Like to know what you think. Also, its not like the ITB mix was naked, it has effects and EQ so i had been trying to make it work, i removed these and did everything OTB for the fatso mix with the eq's in the tg channel. Yes, i know the playing is not super tight. There is some work to do on this track. IT IS A SCRATCH VOCAL. Its not the ideal mic, but it was what was there. I used it for the testing. I didn't have time to clean up this track fully, just to try out the fatso for the weekend. Take a listen and hopefully it helps you know if you'll like this box. Russell |

can't listen just now, but I like how the fatso track has a slightly larger file size than the other one

Oh buddy! thats funny! Two different session files, just in case the fatso wasn't working out! Now that i've learned a bit about this box i'll be mixing and fixing this track again in the future better with it. Gotta learn the gear before comitting to anything. |
