P12 vs Tele AK-47

I got a Peluso P12 about a year ago--a friend of mine just bought a telefunken AK-47, and was kind enough to let me borrow it for a little side by side comparison.

The signal chain was as follows:
Female vocals -->mic-->ISA 428 --> ISA convertors --> PT LE at 24/44.1

No compression; impedance was set to "low", the vocalist stood about 10 inches from both mics. Each had 1 hour to warm up (the mics, not the vocalist). The only processing was a slight gain boost on the peluso (about 2.5 dBs) to match the Tele. Then both files were normalized.

Not real high end pres and covertors I know, but it's the best I have!

I was really surprised how similar the two mics sounded-I was expecting a bigger difference--or maybe my ears are that bad! The P12 sounds a little brighter on top, and the Tele is a little thicker in the lower mids. I'm curious to see what others think.

Links are below and are in mp3 format (192 kbps).

They sound pretty distinct to me. I like how the AK47 reduces the sibilance in her voice. Good comparison. Thanks.

Yeah, that's true. In the actual mix I found I preferred the Peluso though because it just seemed to make her voice sparkle--the AK-47 was just a little dull. Although I'm pretty sure with EQ I could get the same sound from the Telefunken.

I've been curious about both these mics as well. To me the Peluso sounds almost harsh and the AK47 sounds a little too "thick"
