Opinion on Guitar sound.

I played this guitar over a Rhodes piano version of a jazz classic sent me by a friend, I'm looking for opinions on the guitar sound, as it's part of a project I'm involved in (not the music, but the sound)

Thanks :)

jazz classic? that's jeff beck lol...the tone is good, is it beck, no not even close. too thick and too much low mid for jb. it needs more rasp in the mid range and even a little less on top. but for stand alone tone, and not a jb emulation, it's nice.

Sure, it's not an emulation of anyone....
I know that the generous use of the tremolo bar at the beginning recalls JB, but I was after a pure neck strat tone on early breakup, very different from JB's, also musically, I think. Well, the composition is a Jazz classic, that can't be denied...the performance is not classic Jazz though, that can't be denied either...

Anyway, thanks for the comment. :)

Thanks, :D

I'm developing a dsp plugin based on Adern's technology, made to work on the Scope platform. (SonicCore), I'm in a very early stage of the project, still have to take care of some elements.
My goal is to nail that vintage sound, the sweet creamy but sparkling sound of the boutique tube designs...without trying to model a particular one but the one I would have for me.

The guitar just goes to an Apogee MiniMe pre-converter and from there into a Scope Audio-Card environment, where the plug in is applied before the recording in Cubase SX3. Then I mixed in The Scope mixer with a bit of ambience and a bit of plate.
The Rhodes has been recorded on another Scope System, across the ocean, through a freeware 3rd p.plugin for Scope into the VDAT recording tool for the same platform and sent me as mp3.
:)

woa

thats a plug in amp sim? I thought maybe it could of been the axe fx, a very unique sound, but could be believable as an amp imo .The bend up seemed a little synthy but still very interesting indeed, and very great work thus far on your plug in!!!!

This sounds better then most if not all amp sims plugs that I have tried for this particuliar vibe.

You mean the way the pitch rises? that's a Fender vintage tremolo, the one with 6 bolts, that I mounted with only the 2 external ones, floating. It's impressive how good this guitar is in keeping the intonation, I was lucky to find the perfect springs-strings balance and now I don't dare even to change the strings brand to avoid altering a perfect setting!

If you wanna have a look to this baby I've assembled...:

Sounds great. The guitar that is.

The keyboardist is so in your way, he takes away from the emotion of the solo voice of your guitar.

Listen to Jeff Becks version on Wired.

:)

I'm using a technology that is currently considered one of the most effective for high quality plugins. I'm developing on a particular dsp platform, that's Scope, actually made by Sonic Core who bought it from Creamware. But the algorithms that are the real thing here are not SonicCore, but from Adern, a 3rd p. company that has released the well known Flexor line of modular modules for the Scope Modular Synthesizer.

I'm actually involved with Adern in some of its project, this amp emulation is something that I started with the goal to make an amp like the one I would have as hardware, with a different way to manage the interaction between the stages, but the project needs more work and nothing has been decided yet if it will be an official Adern product or not.

Thanks for the comments, I need objective opinions to keep on my work. :)

The rhodes tone is an original rhodes processed through Flu_Liq, which is a freeware plugin that runs in Scope, made from an user with the free SDK software for the platform. It' integrates delays, modulation fx, panning and some form of soft saturation. I've never used it yet, in fact the rhodes part was an independent recording by another Scope user, posted as an mp3 in planet Z forums, where I just d.loaded it and added the guitar and mixed with my Scope system. I like its effect on the Rhodes very much too. :)
