And of course those who bought the iphone 4S will now be told why it is inferior to the 5 and you MUST buy the 5

It looks nice, but I haven't seen anything that makes me want to jump from my 4S yet. This will be a huge upgrade for 3GS or Android users... (flame suit on!)

Only 11ish months to go before the 5S is launched, which I'm super stoked for!

Although I use an iMac, iPod, iPad, iCloud, ixxxx etc etc

(I) actually just bought a new phone, being a white Samsung S2.

Which just seems altogether more glamorous than any iPhone.

It's fun to mix things up a bit from time to time. The Samsung phones really do have lovely bright and large screens which is cool for older blokes like me who need to put on their reading glasses to use an iphone LOL

Maybe I should of waited for the iPhone 5 :-)

I think it's a stroke of genius.

Apple have stopped the 'order of magnitude' updates.

The reason? It doesn't piss off buyers of the previous models nearly as much as it could.

Very few people with a 4S are going to see this as an essential upgrade. I know I don't.

Increasing the perceived longevity of any given device probably works out better in the long run in terms of making these things seem like "smart buys."

The real tech nerds will think it a waste of their time, but it becomes essential for people on three and four year old handsets. That's a superb amount of time to retain a phone!

!
Their in lies the possible problem...

'Order of magnitude' update 'revelations' was their thing. Now we have reached a plateau that is going to be difficult to ascend from. Other manufacturers are catching up or surpassing Apple. Android is king now and Samsung may soon usurp Apple on its iPhone throne...

Yes Apple bought out a company specialising in finger print recognition, but if that's all they have got in the pipeline - well big deal. The market is open and the game is on. Apple led the way and now the field has caught up.

Steve Jobs is spinning...

The new iPhone looks ok. It could never be as mind blowing like some wish it would but it surely is the best Smart Phone in the world right now. For me the biggest mistake Apple made was making it thinner and not putting in a bigger battery in there. A longer battery life would win way more people over to upgrade at least I would.

The new iPod nano's however looks terrible.
All I could think of was how much they looked like a Nokia but way worse.

Don't know what people expected, but as a 3GS owner, the iPhone5 Looks great, and I'm really excited. I love how the iphone works, - it's simple and does what it does extremely well. I don't want them to mess with the formula too much.

Totally agree and I was like "this is Nokia Lumia". I Think Nokia got a Winning Trial here hahahahahha

And I myself am very disappointed with this iPhone 5 release.

Glad I moved to Android a little time now and dumped my iPhone. Never been happier. Will wait iPhone 5s

Peace

I guess I should re-word.
For MY uses the iPhone and Galaxy are pretty similar. I am one of the few who loves apple, but just does not dig the iPhone.

The iPhone is bigger than all of Microsoft, I'm not sure Apple is trembling in their boots. In this case according to recent research it seems to be the screen size that attracts Europeans, where the Android is doing so well. iPhone is still tops in the US.

I think iPhone 5 looks amazing. This is coming from owning an iPhone 4 for two years, and an iPhone 1 for three years prior.

After upgrading to iOS5, my iPhone 4 has been sluggish, buggy, and my home button is on the fritz. But I still can't live w/o my beloved iPhone, so bring on the 5, Tim! I don't think Steve is rolling in his grave. 5 looks totally sick. Fast as hell and the the new graphics kick ass.

Did any of you naysayers watch the keynote? This was a good event. Very well done. Apple is a crazy crazy impressive and innovative company.

Now give us a new Mac Pro! : )

Hilarious, crazy how people really can not differenciate a damn thing, I mean ain't no Apple hater (used their product and do have some of theirs) but its funny how some Apple users are such id****. Just goes with the hype. Ayayayi

I agree. Major hype and so much press release ! Lots of key words used to create the feeling that it's far superior than the previous model.

It will be nice to finally upgrade from my original iPhone 3, though.
