I own both the new iPad (replaced my iPad 2) and the Nexus 7 and can say I love both for different reasons. I use the iPad mainly for work (scrolling lyrics as I play) so I picked up a Nexus 7 so a) I had a tablet to use casually and it wouldn't be as big a deal if something happened to it and b) something smaller and more portable, but still useable to surf the web and whatnot. The Nexus is fantastic, Jellybean works great, I'm a huge fan.

I think reading a PDF on any tablet is riskier than using a native eBooks format.

I think you'll enjoy iBooks on an iPad or Google Play Books on a Nexus 7 far more since they're natively designed to be an optimized reading experience.

Is reading primarily what you're trying to do?

yes. im really looking for tablet only for reading purposes and nothing else. i was thinking of e-ink readers as kindle, specially now with backlits that emerged, but i think im going to miss the colors on e-ink, thats why im really looking into nexus 7 or maybe, just maybe kindle fire. Fire is cheaper but as I have understood quite limited also, its not full andorid tablet.

IMO if you are planning to spend hours reading, there's nothing easier to the eye than black ink. Huge diference worth considering.

But sure, Nexus 7 works like a charm.

Enjoy.
