People need to realize this goes far beyond an iphone. Practically all digital devices are keeping track of your life in some way or another.

Actually my dad and I were talking about this yesterday, he told me that if you have a google app on your phone it does the same thing but they actually collect the data and store it. Well I'm not sure about a google app because he uses Android so maybe its only on the android OS it happens but either way i deleted anything google related on my phone.

Yes, very bad all this tracking..
I have an anonymous discount card for a supermarket chain here in the Netherlands [Albert Heijn]. Although I pay electronically... so I guess they could easily find out who I am from the account information.
Is it still a secret how long Google keeps personal data?

I am an apple computer user forever but I am not blind to everything apple.

Did y'all read the article? Or just post based on the tagline???
the info is stored in your computer and can easily be thrown out before anyone can get it. If you are scared of that, your paranoia is for another reason.....
Rock on!!!

Can an iphone report where is is
If it is switched off? If you don't want anyone knowing where you are then dont take a mobile phone with you!

The microphone on your cell phone can be accessed by authorities at any time, even when powered off. So this tracking thing is no surprise to me. Seems like only the beginning...technology is really something.

anyway, the last update of iTunes asks if you agree to them collecting data, again, but also states they're not going to pull your GPS data history from the device. read it yourself.

Well some stories I've heard with the grovery cards is, lets say if one has some serious health issues later on like Diabetes, they can and have the right to look at your grocery card and see all of your habits and use that.
So what to do?
have 2 cards, one in your name and use that for all the water, fruits and veggies purchases and another card under an alias and fake # and use that for jall others like unk food |

Banks collect information about you every time you use a credit or debit card. Cell Phone and ISP's companies collect info too.
In fact this website you are reading collects information about you too right at this very minute.
If you don't like it go live in a cave... |

If you don't like it go live in a cave... | The best solution is to lie on every site.
Different login names, birth dates, emails, lie about your sex, and try to spread it out as far and wide as you can.

I'm scoring a documentary that's all about this stuff. The film has some of the world's leading security experts talking about how ignorant we are and how dependent we've become on the tech-system. It's really pretty freaky... since working on this project, I'm on the edge of deleting my social media accounts
Check it out... code2600.com |

Check it out... code2600.com | That looks really interesting, a bit alarmist and cloak & dagger, but interesting nonetheless. Was that your music in the trailer? Very effective.

Yep. The actual cue got cut and spliced by the video editor, so it's a little choppy.
It is a dark angle but has some bright points.
Bottom line... People don't know squadush about what the information revolution means to the species. Lots of growing up to do.
