Gee whiz, for $17,500, you could buy three Leica M9's.

From the article:
Sure it costs $17,500, but that includes Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 and a personal delivery from a Leica photography expert, who will also provide a private training and orientation session.
LOL. And, apparently they plan on selling it to people who don't know how to use a camera. I guess that's really not surprising at all.

Why would anyone buy this thing when you could get a Panasonic GF1, GH1, or GH2 for under or around a G? I can guarantee the Panasonic takes hell-uv-a better shots. Yet, I know people actually go for that 'limited edition' BS.

Neiman Marcus does this every year. Something way over-priced. I think one year it was a jet, no BS

Well, I can't explain the limited edition bit, but, Leica is the inventor of the 35mm format, and is one of the great lens manufacturers. This is a full-frame camera, so while the regular edition is certainly expensive at around $7k body only, it's still a hair cheaper than a Nikon D3X or Canon EOS-1D Mark IV. This is a top-of-the-line pro camera. That said, a top-of-the-line pro camera should cost around $7k, not $17.5k.

And while I've never held a Leica, let alone used one, I don't think that most professionals would agree that Panasonic has a better camera than the M9 in their lineup: http://www.digitalcameratracker.com/...sample-photos/

It's a "collectible" Leica. Leica has made these for years. Always super-limited-edition-meant-to-be-put-under-glass-and-not-used models. This carries on the tradition...
