SkimWords technology has recently been implemented on the Gadgets Gadgets Gadgets sub forum. It turns certain specific words in posts into links to specific retailers' websites. For example, if someone includes the text 'Apple.com' in their post, the technology might turn it into a link to Apple's website. It doesn't do every possible link - only, I think, a maximum of 3 per page.

The SkimWords links are obvious since when you mouse over them, the standard tool tip text indicates that it has been created by SkimWords.

I hope that people will appreciate that income from this will go towards maintaining the forums and will not object to links being added into posts and that some of the resulting links will be considered useful.

If, however, you find a SkimWords generated link which is not relevant, please report the post to the moderators and we will feed back any issues to the SkimWords tech dept.

Today we are introducing an update to the existing SkimWords technology that we use on Gearslutz. In addition to the product links that are created, you may start to see additional product information and price comparisons presented when you mouseover certain links.

This update is designed to provide useful information while enabling us to help pay for the upkeep of the site. As ever, if you spot anything unusual or have any questions, do let us know.
