I've got a new toy - the Monomachine!

Hello synthslutz!

Today it became a reality. The moment I've been waiting for since I first saw it... I finally got myself a Monomachine!

I've just started to get familliare with it and I think we are going to get along well. Finally I have found a synth that has it's own and unique sound (besides my OSCar). I might be posting a review of it later but for now I just wanted to share my joy!

Oh, and here's a picture of it!

I've played around with the VO, laughing all the time! I'm curious if anybody here would like to share their experiences with the VO synthes. What's a good starting point when making vovels etc. I'm planning on making a chart for myself with usable settings so it gets a little faster to edit words.

Right now I've programmed the first two rows from the Model. Funky as h3ll!

I think I'm going to have a great time with this synth.

Hej! Congratulations!

The mono is a beast! Looks gorgeous with the slender keyboard. There's a VO machine chart over at the elektron users website with the settings for different common vovels.

Don't overlook the rhythms, even though it's not a MD, it's got some quircks of its own. For instance, try arpeggio on a drum kit.

Tack Lupo!

I look around at Elektron to see if I find it.

Arpeggio on the drumkit!? I must check that out!

and while you are at it try to assign an LFO to the retrigger amount and another to the retriggertime for the drumkit and sync both at values like dotted halfnotes versus dotted quarter notes.
That will create some crazy glitching buzzes at syncopated positions in the beat.
Sounds like you are electroschocking the drummer!

I had a mono for a year but didnt use it enough due to other jobs.
Its by far the hottest grooveboxout there!

Sorry, it was in the mailing list archive: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/elektr...MnM_vowels.txt - but I think I've seen a more comprehensive version somewhere else too.

I've given up on the writing phrases thing. Every time I start trying to make it say something intelligible, there's a funky tune going by the time I've gotten to the second or third letter! The machine just begs to be tweaked beyond whatever it's doing right now. It takes a lot of self restrain to make something as str8 as normal speech on it. BTW: the most SID'ish sound I've programmed on it was made using a VO patch! The interleaved LFO does the trick.
