"it seemed like that audience were capable of mindlessly accepting the most crass gimmicks and personalities"

nice attitude...

Wunderground is a satire site, as can be seen from the link to the article entitled "Diplo quits music to join church of scientology."

That being said, this is likely the most accurate article they have ever written.

So is EDM basically dance music plus the cult of celebraty? Before the term EDM came along people had producers they idolised but they idolised them for their music, nobody knew what Source Direct looked like, nobody cared.

Wtf did i just read?
'Mr. Aoki is in fact a performance artist who has been engaged in a finely orchestrated and prolonged performance art piece that has encapsulated every aspect of his life'.
That is the biggest f*&king joke. Who reads this and believes it???

I knew what Source Direct looked like, they were interviewed in Future Music in the 90's!

Crazy times. They released some nice d&b singles, then got a major label album deal, bought a sick studio, expensive cars and whatnot.

I have learned one thing. Fucl all newses about those attention *****s having nothing to do with music actually. Screw them. Whats matters is doing your own music and thats most important, polishing it and making better and better I suggest to all same approach, helps to stay healthy and focused.

Awesome! Yeah sure, you might see who ever out and about at a dance but the point is nobody cared what they looked like, the details of their lives, the way they dressed etc. were irrelevant.

so funny that people are so blinded by their hatred of something to realize that something is satire

I don't think anyone is hating Aoki here... He's just a comedian anyway, best known for throwing cakes at people's faces at his gigs. I've never even heard the man's music, or DJ sets (so I don't even have anything to hate), I just know him as the cake throwing EDM dude.

He DOES seem strangely popular though, for someone whose reputation is build on a gimmick.

I don't hate Aoki. I hate his music though, I'll admit that. It is definitely some of the dumbest music I have ever heard. And I'm very happy that I'm not the guy who made it.

I dont think he made the music or did anything he was trying to prove how blind mainstream edm fans are and quite possibly the populist movement as it were.

I was waiting for someone to point it out. People are so gullible these days, and quite obviously do not know anything about the sources they get their information for.

The solar powered, free CDJ was an all time great but that Aoki article had me giggling.
I love reading the comments below the article; people so 'in the know' that they overlook the painfully obvious tongue-in-cheek stylings!
