USB cable keeps falling out

I don't know if this has been discussed before - probably has.. Anyways, I'm looking for a solution to a problem with the usb plug falling out from my Novation sl37. When gigging, and the sl put under some stress from playing, the usb plug regularly falls out. Is there some heavy duty plug available that can help? Google mostly reveals solutions that are to be fitted on the female side of the usb chain - that be the sl in this case - and this is out of the question as I don't want to open up my sl to fit a new female usb connector.. The sl uses a "B" plug.

Have you tried gaffer taping the cable near the socket to the SL's chassis so forces are not applied directly on the inserted plug?

Yeah, that was my initial thought. I was just hoping for something a bit more elegant...

Also, since rigging-time is crucial, a sturdy no-falling-out plug would be preferable.

Aye, I hear you.

I wish more companies would mould those little cable hooks near their sockets as well as using connectors that are inherently robust but those damn profit margins...

computer cables are not designed well or securely. Gaffer tape is your friend for live gigs. a fresh piece for every show, discreetly hidden with slack between it and the plug.

Gaffer tape it is then! I'll have to find me a nice black one Hopefully, the combo of an angled usb plug and tape will do the trick for now.

Thanks!

One more vote for gaffer tape. I've been gigging off and on for 40 years. I swear by the stuff. Great colors these days, too.
