WHat kind of Electronic music are you doing?

Hi, beign a slut for a whie and I had never seen this forum, I guess I dont read the small letters, so I didnt notice it existed and from what I'm seeing it's picking up its activity, so I though I 'd start a thread and hopefully contribute to maing this EM forum grow by the day. anyways now to the point: I was wondering what genre of music we are mostly into, I record any type of music, and like plenty of types and styles like evryone else in the world but speaking strictly of elecronic music, what's cooking?

I'm into techno, the tougher the better but not distorted, that sucks, anything from a good minimal with lots of drive, to hard pumpin is fine. Also drum and bass, two step, some electro tunes are fine.

I shall post some pics of my studio once its done, currently under renovation, nice combination of a few drum machines, synths and high end effects like neve and api, anyways hope you enjot replying to this thread, if we keep this growth in activity around here we may end up with the best EM forum on the web, it's always nice to have a platform were to ask other people with our same interest, and GS is full of smart people unlike other forums which have 100000 threads about every $100 little thing that has ever come up for sale

Keep in touch

Recently I'm in no dance oriented electronic music. I don't use samples in traditional way, I prefer to use synthesis and real instruments, when samples are used they are made by me and used as sound source for modular synthesis.
I don't know how to define my music exactly, it's maybe a form of "progressive" ambient with some chillout vibe here and there....

I'm into ambient music. My favorite electronic artists are FSOL, Shpongle, Talvin Singh, and DJ Shadow. Although, I'm always on the lookout for more.

I've only recently gotten the equipment I needed to write my own ambient music, so I only have one song comleted so far. But, many more are on the way

My music can be found here: http://chrisflesner.net/music/music.html

I'd like to hear your stuff Alfonso. Progressive ambient sounds interesting.

I'm doing a mix of pop and industrial. Maybe sounds a little more pop, but my roots are in industrial. But my influences go far and wide, so I go where my music takes me. Sometimes funky, sometimes 80's pop, maybe a little rockiness in there, other times harder or more emotional, it really depends I what I feel would compliment the song I made before it. Whatever I do, it's always electronic.

I dig a lot of ambient and progressive stuff, but I tend not to make my music that way, although I forgot to mention I've been known to touchdown in Darkwave.

So as you can see, electronic is a better description for what I do

Hi rids,

to hear some of my stuff just check the signature in my post....the Napster link brings to a very bad quality mp3's if you are not registered with them, the Experience of Space link brings to CD Baby, there you can find an "hi fi" button to listen 2mins of each track at 128kb, a bit more decent. If you want to have a really great quality you could buy my CD....

Cheers!

Mostly dark and moody stuff.

Post Punk, EBM, Electro, Industrial/extremely vicious sounding Techno & Acid Techno.

I still get asked to do a lot of Dub remixes, which I still enjoy.

from deep vocal house, chicago style (simple but yummie) to breakbeat with nasty jumps to broken beat with weird scapes and vocals to dancefloor killer rhythm tracks

I love ambient, but I'm too at the moment

You gave me a good laugh Reptil ...
Maybe you should ease up on coffee...

I second your choices though.
I'd like to come up with something really punchy for my next project...(and as usual, I'll just come up with the opposite...)
Let's all !!!

in terms of my electronic orientation I am influenced by artists like - psapp, Ulver, When, Single Unit, KILL!, some chiptune stuff, circuit bending, and of course Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, AmonTobin, etc.

I have a few projects that range from

prog chiptunes (8-bit with BFD and oddball melodies/beats) = http://www.myspace.com/dagnomes - the G-nomes to

dark experimental industrial and ambient = http://www.myspace.com/vespconstruct - Vesperian Construct to

? / IDM / whatever I feel like = http://www.myspace.com/formister - mister

personally I don't listen to very much strictly electronic music because I find most of it cheezy/cluby/crap, but I enjoy the freedom that MIDI and audio editing can offer me. I currently use a combination of ProTools, Digital Performer, Reason, and plug-ins as well as an Ensoniq FIZMO synth, a MIDI Nintendo, an ATARI with synth cart, and a bunch of circuit bent things.

honestly I respect any genre and all music as long as there is some creativity/originality involved.

oh and this too

my latest efforts have been sorta psychedelic electro rock sounding. i come from a tekno/industrial/synthpop background but have spent the last few years wandering away from the sequencer & playing with live musicians.

http://www.brainwashaudio.com/

i'm a big fan of mixing electronics & more acousitc/electric instruments.
massive attack, ozric tenticles, underworld, peter gabriel, radiohead, nin, floyd, ect...

I like all sorts of electronic music but mainly make breakbeat tunes (nuskool breaks, teck funk, whateva else i can think off - don't keep up with all the subgenre labelling). My main tools are cubase and a bit of hardware and a lot of software.

Check out my myspace to hear some of my tunes!

"Futurepop" is a pretty good description of the kind of music that me and my band are trying to make.

On my own, I do anything -- there's a heavy Mike Oldfield influence.

i do hard tech trance , a la mauro piccoto and trance like PVD.

but i try not to pigeon hole myself so i do psy ambient. trying to do something like shpoongle. but man its hard. ethnic instruments sound much better when they are plaed for real. using multisamples is kinda limited

than i do some dark ambient/filmscorish using string arrangements w/ VSL and EWSO.

using real samples/ orchestra definitly adds depth.

breakbeat also.

and electro house.
