organ style midi pedalboard?

Hello

I want to get a midi pedalboard like this:
Studiologic MP-113 Dynamic MIDI Foot Controller Pedalboard | Musician's Friend
being a bit of a 'control freak' i'm trying to explore this avenue as a means of hands free clip launching, doing sustained bass notes, etc etc

looking around, i can't seem to find any unit that isn't marked at some exorbitant price. Other units include roland pk-5 (discontinued) and pk-6 ($899!) I really don't see why a simple midi controller should cost so much.

Does anyone know of any other unit at a more reasonable price?
Also wondering if it'd be possible to potentially rig something up by taking the pedalboard from a cheap organ and a cv to MIDI converter.

Thank you

EDIT: I should also note that i'm not interested in a fcb1010 style controller, as i'm more interested in using this is as a musical instrument then just launching clips and turning things on and off

You might find the Keith McMillen 12step or SoftStep suitable. Each is about $260.

Cheap organ pedals works just fine, just add some midi retrofit like highly liquids.

thanks for the tip about highly liquid! This will cut down the cost a lot if I manage to wrap my head around it

seriously though, $500+ for a midi controller?? this must be a racket.
I thought i saw CME putting out some cheap organ pedalboard solution but like 90% of their products its discontinued

It's more like the wrong end of the scale for economy of scale: the market for controllers like that is small.
