Really need another Mono Synth?

Hey Guys!

It itches me. It's not like i have too much money to spend, but starting to do live sets with my xbase 999 and the analog four.

in my studio i also have a se atx xi quad filter and a pulse from waldorf

i thought about buying the slim phatty from moog, but the question is if i really need it? i know what it sounds like and i like the fact that it won't have a life inside my rack ONLY, due to good transportation posibilities. but do i need it?

muaaa....

I'd say it's nice to have an extra keyboard to play with so why not get something with a keyboard? The Sub Phatty might be useful for live.
Only you can tell if you REALLY need it.

Looking at your monosynths list (the analog four isn't exactly mono), i'd say if you really feel like getting another monosynth, than consider the following:

1) You seem to have "moogish" sounds covered. What about a multimode filter, or dual filter? Something like the new Korg ms-20 mini that has a keyboard and won't sound like anything else you already have.

2) Or, SEM Pro.

3) If you like the atcxi quad, it might be rdundent, but perhaps one of the boomstars (arp filter) - not just because of the sound, but also because they have some unique features compared to the atcxi, and they are knobby.

it's a mix of - i dont see myself dragging the ms20 to a gig. thats why i also thought of the sp not the lp

Just remember that around here "need" is pretty much a synonym for "want".

hahaha! you caught me.

well, to be honest, saving up for stuff. Actually at the point where I either buy the phatty now, or wait and save up for a Analogue Solutions Leipzig S Key or Tempest or i'll work my ass off and get me a prophet '12. but that would be it for this year. just one beauty..

my two cents:

I have the atcx-i as well

I bought the slim phatty as well,

I soon sold it.

The keywords are:

a) modulations (lack of)

b) "meat" (well, for a moog... meh! )
