How to make this build-up sound?

Hello folks,

I've been trying alot to find out how this build up sound is made, but without real success.

From my hearing i would say that it consists of a detuned Pulse/Square wave with a bandpass filter on it, but i wasn't able to recreate it in the synthesizer.

Here are two examples what sound i mean.

You can hear the rising square wave sound from about 1:22 to 1:43
Nicky Romero - Toulouse (Original Mix) - YouTube

and 2nd example form 4:30 to 4:45
Avicii & Nicky Romero - Nicktim (Original Mix) - YouTube

Any tips or tutorials how to make it?

Try using a flanger/phaser like Waves MetaFlanger on some white noise. There's a preset on MetaFlanger with a very similar sound (Mutron preset maybe?).

Hm.. I've tried what you said, but actually I didn't get a result even close to the examples posted above. To be honest, I don't think that a white noise is used to make that sound, I'm pretty sure it's a pulse wave :-/

Here we go

Zippyshare.com - EndlessRiser.wav

And yes it is made using white noise & a flanger. if you feel like making it yourself this is how you can make it in FL studio:

Open 3xosc, Set one of the oscillators as white noise, and turn down the volume of the other 2 oscillators. then assign the white noise to a mixer track. Add the fruity flanger and use these settings:

Delay: 0
Phase: 360
Feed: 76
Dry: Turn the knob right down
Depth: About 2.35
Damp: 0
Invert Feedback: On
Wet: Turn the knob right up
Rate: 0
Shape: Turn the knob right down
Invert Wet: On
Cross: About -6dB

then just automate the pitch
