Knas Polygamist - a modern synth

so, the Knas Polygamist was announced some time ago and pre orders have been placed by handfuls (?) of people. i've read a bunch about it and it looks awesome. so many great features.. read the info below...

looping envelopes that go well into audio range or so slow they will 'pause'.

"Highlights includes VCO1 which features a "Tilt" output which is a triangle wave that can be *tilted* from sawtooth, to triangle, to ramp. VCO2, the "Pitch multiplying oscillator" consists of a fundamental and three "sub harmonics" that mimics additative/FM synthesis for very complex waveform and chaos generation. The ADSR is loopable and can be used as an oscillator, it can also be paused in its transition. The three LFOs all go to audio range and two of them go down to about 4 minutes for one waveform period. It also features a duophonic, pressure sensitive ribbon controller which sends MIDI data. It has two independent MIDI/USB-to-CV converters which can be ganged in duophonic mode. And there is of course, much, much more. "

I played with it briefly over the summer at the NYC modular festival. Sounds excellent; I am definitely planning on buying one. I see it - philosophically - as the Buchla Music Easel for 2013 (although I wish the ribbon was as sensitive as Buchla's touchplate - it seems to be designed for large gestures rather than subtle motions).

Wow, this has completely passed under my radar. Looks awesome & can't but praise the super-sensible pricing affair.

The release of this synth proves that Mitt Romney's presidential run wasn't entirely a lost cause, as it seems people's minds have been opened to alternative lifestyles.

I assume this is monophonic. The name suggests otherwise but with this complexity it would surely be extremely expensive (and large), if it was polyphonic. I can't find a specification for number of voices, so that speaks for mono also, but I find it strange that it doesn't say anywhere.

Looks very cool anyway.

This thing looks awesome but the word polygamist suggests to me it's multi-voiced ? It appears to be duo mono outputs to create a summed duophonic signal or am I wrong here ?

I think your hunch is correct. If it was a poly this thread would probably be 10 pages long.

Looks to me like you could get two simultaneous tones out of it by routing the upper and lower touch CVs (and gates I guess) to the two oscillators. But doesn't look like there are two independent full voices.

It's been quite a while without any substantial updates. I wonder how much longer until it starts shipping?

I'm more of a bread-and-butter guy when it comes to analog, but I certainly applaud this innovative and daring design.

Some gorgeous sounds in this video:

Most of these sounds aren't for me, but I'm guessing some of you will be pulling out your credit cards right away:
