thumbsup about Paris, it has been quite a while since I was able to go there.

seriously: I think some gear has a deserved name. and the hype is true. nice to work with, easy to find satisfying results, sonic character (in a good way) like your desk to take an obvious example.
but there is a whole lot of quirky stuff out there that will never be famous, even if it sounds amazing. it is the results that count (obvious IMO), and that is the cool thing, about production. especially in House music. Where most ppl. only look for sound creation instead of ALSO mixing tools IME. and the producer is not really the "hyped hero" YMMV
It's great to work at a sound that is "your own" and nobody elses, because what you put in personally. That gives me the nice feeling in the morning when I walk to the studio and open the door.

BTW, I love "broken beat" stuff.
any labels I should look out for?
Maybe a good idea for a new thread!

website will be up in september somewhere

Yep,

It depends if you're more on the producer side or engineer side...
I try to develop my sonic identity as a producer, but when working for others I try to stay transparent and adapt to the artist's vision....not so easy sometimes.
I try to have no set rules with gear, but I can't help but being anal about preamps....

Compost is a dope label, very good quality stuff!

Thanks for the nice words Fredrik!
I would've never imagined someone on GS knew my work!!
Qalomota has been pretty productive this last couple years, but it's still very underground.
I have a new e.p coming up called "Obsidian Soul", side A is kinda dark, tribal and tecky, it's called "Obisdian Soul: The Ritual", and side B's "Obsidian Soul: The Celebration" is a moment of total soulfulness....or at least that's how I see it
I can't stick to 1 genre, I like playing very diverse stuff, and I kinda wanted to reflect that in this record.
Available on vinyl in sept. and on Tracksource.com and Topplers.com shortly after that, but I could provide you with some samples before that if you're interested, just pm me.

Cheers!

right now for me it is eq and lineamps.
and cables looots and looooooots of cables
and plugs
the transparent thing works, but not always.
it is nice to work with others though on a joint project
euh..... a band?
nah

my setup is good for both. I had to do some thinking about it.

-*-
compost, yes it is. they had a steady supply at the local recordshop
did't buy everything
oh man there is so much good music out there
but eqs win now for space in my limited attention span
cheers, Reptil

House music is like that ex-girlfriend that I keep hooking up with on lost weekends. We keep telling ourselves & each other that we've moved on, that we're better off apart, that we're not interested, but get a few drinks in us and one of us inevitably ends up crashing at the other's place.

But more seriously, I'll go on record as saying that I LOVE dance music of all kinds, from the funkiest deep house, to the glitchiest techno, to even some of the stuff that a lot of people find painfully uncool, like Euro-Trance & hard dance. It all depends on the mood I'm in. I'm currently bumping the Angelo & Ingrosso mix of Royksopp's "49 Percent" - electro bliss!!!
