Controlling a Modular via MIDI keyboard?

Own an Oxygen 25 MIDI keyboard. Just bought a Doepfer Dark Energy. Put simply, how do I signal key presses from the Oxygen to the DE?

Do I connect the Oxygen to the computer via USB, then the DE to a DAW through MIDI?

I'm lost.

Oxygen MIDI out > Dark Energy MIDI in.

If the Oxygen does not have a MIDI out (could be - on some keyboards they've started to omit them and use USB exclusively)

Oxygen USB > computer
Dark Energy USB > computer
Route the incoming signals of the Oxygen to the Dark Energy.

Both should show up as standard MIDI devices; it depends on what DAW you use (hint: tell us which) how you go about routing everything.

Thanks. Using FL Studio. No MIDI out on Oxygen. Don't have a USB cablewith the Doepfer, but it does have a USB connection. (second hand so guess there should be, will a generic one work?).

At the moment I have a MIDI In from Dark Energy to MIDI Out of MIDI Interface. I have my Oxygen connected to FL Studio via USB. The MIDI Interface is sending MIDI Out from key presses of the Oxygen, but still no sound. My set-up

Appreciate the response, realise this is bread and butter stuff but i just really want to hear the thing!

Ahah! Got it receiving MIDI, had to use USB from Oxygen to connect it and send MIDI from just the piano roll.

Still no sound though. Hmmm
