Issues with a Millenium DP-2000 MIDI

Hello!
I just bought myself a Millenium DP-2000 drum pad to use as a cheap MIDI tool when recording percussion. When I began setting it up in my DAW (using Studio One 2 with Battery 3) I noticed that no matter what velocity i played with the velocity written and played would be really low (5-10%), even cranking up the master in Battery, the overall master to max (which I know is not a viable solution) and hitting it as hard as I could would only give me a velocity of 25-30% which still is way to low.

Have you got any ideas as to what the problem might be, or could i simply be a faulty product?
