TR 707 Fault

Got a problem with distorted output from a Roland TR-707 drum machine, anyone seen this before and could help identify what the problem is?

Just hearing the audio recorded with a camera isn't very helpful. Post high quality recordings.

Lots of that Roland gear is notorious for dry joints on the power / midi / audio sockets.

If it's a physical thing (ie you tap it and it gets worse / goes away) then resolder all the jack sockets and see if that fixes it.

Yeah I was thinking it may be a dry joint. I've tapped it whilst it happens but nothing changes. I guess it's just worth re-soldering them all

thanks

after a wee think. the sound kind of reminds me of my vestaxx DJ mixer that
hasd worn out faders.

might be some dirt or a little wear in the volume pots or the individual channel
faders?

when one of the instruments sounds loud, distorted and does not react on fader movements, the fader of the particular instrument channel is dead or dirty. it is a negative feedback amplifier circuit. I have four of those dead faders myself, and Roland would't sell those outside of Japan anymore. someone has a few around?
