How do producers make sounds with no "hit" but makes them loud and clear?

How do producers make sounds with no "hit" but makes them loud and clear? Im having troubles with a synth solo, but the low end cause me to "feel" the lowend. Its as if sound pressure is being forced into my eardrums. How would i prevent this? I usually try to eq the freq out, but it cause the sound to muddy and not sound as clear. This can also apply to snares. thanks

Wild guess: try some compression. That will increase the average volume level (making the sound appear louder).

Too much low end: try a high pass filter, increase the cutoff frequency until you can hear it removing some of the sound, then back the frequency off just a bit.
