Nord Lead and Wave apparently discontinued

I just checked a couple of online retailers, and none of them is offering the Nord Lead or Nord Wave keyboards any more.

They're still available in Europe, but perhaps they're being quietly pulled in preparation for NAMM 2013 in January.

The Lead/Rack 2X is long overdue and overhaul imo.

Imagine that engine with Virus like DAW integration........

My Recordings/Credits

They are not "discontinued" at Clavia and I see that Thomann always have the Nord Lead 2x and Nord Wave for sale.

Sorry, I meant online retailers in the USA. I would expect different countries to run out at different times.

Noisebug has the Lead 2X in stock, and AnalogueHaven has the Wave in stock.

Nah...Nord Lead is a modern classic...it will be very hard to disappear from the market. It could be the worst moment for the modern synth world. It's a symbol for the best UI, the best build quality and a really unique sounding digital engine. I got one recently and even if it's a really simple instrument I totally understand the hype about it...even more than Moog's hype!

Well it sold for quite a long time, maybe stocks are depleting, I can't find new stocks on my local dealer either.

Luckily there 2 of them (one is anniversary edition) on sale second hand, if I get my other stuff going, I want to switch the rack to a keyboard.

Maybe they're working on a Lead 4. Who knows. Wishful thinking.

There is no shortage of Leads though. They have produced so many that you can find one pretty easy.

It could be very strange if Nord discontinued their most successful instrument. I admit that there is some great competition when analog synths like Mopho x4 give even more raw sonic power, features (except polyphony) and brilliant interface at almost the same money, but there is always that great "metallic fm" and punchy sound of NL which is unique. Also, something that I always admired on Nord Leads, is the quality of the pots and buttons!!! Those buttons have an "indestructible" and "Pro" feel on them...I never had the same feeling for other synths in the same price range.
