But I do believe that while that can be considered a limitation for doing higher register stuff, it is the reason why the low end is more solid then the phatty and voyager and minibrutes etc...

It's funny how Moog advertises a firmware update as a whole new instrument...(rev 2) I like the new features but no...it's not a (rev 2)...for me at least. A redesigned Minitaur in hardware level, would have been a proper rev 2.

Had to bite, thus giving up on the 5089 Boomstar. They had a few with Prime shipping left on Amazon. I've come to the realization with most of my synths; I use the filter to get high timbers not the keys so I'm guessing the note limitation won't bother me.
So very happy to have real Moog bass now & with full CV over all parameters!!!, come on, how can you pass that up?

Preset storage! Very nice.
And they can be changed while away from the computer. That's a huge convenience bonus for me.
Good job, Moog.

Wait... the Minitaur didn't have seperate delay/release settings before? That seems like quite an oversight.

Sounds like you love the result
You wouldn't happen to have any audio examples that you can post, would you?

And with that, the Minitaur jumps up to the top of my new gear list. Still getting a guitar....but this will delay the Tempest. Next year can't come soon enough.

That seems like quite an oversight. | Without the software, the only way you could adjust the release was to lose the decay function, pushing the glide button enabled the release portion of the envelope on the decay knob, so either parameter was mutually exclusive. Now, you can adjust both from the unit as opposed to requiring the editor, which is nice.

If they called it "Minitaur 2" or something, that would be another issue, but Rev 2 is fine for a firmware update, and including that in their advertising alerts those that may have strayed away due to some perceived lack of functionality may take another look.

The addition of patch memory is awesome and turns the synth into a great live instrument as well as a studio instrument, it's definitely going on my list now!

Just got mine today. Have to say, it sounds incredible; smooth as creamy peanut butter. I was triggering it from my Minibrute and honestly it gets to 90% of what the MB can play as far as pitch, so I wouldn't fret about the C4 note limit, who likes treble anyway :p
It's a little goofy to have the sustain dial after the release dial, but oh wells.
It's a genuine slice of true Moog bass and filter for a decent price. After the v2 update, I'd take it over the Minibrute if I had to choose. I'd compare the two as the MB being a rocky surf beaten shore and the MT being smooth sailing. They do compliment each other wonderfully though. I'd dare say if you get both it would be the best $1100 you can currently spend on analog synthesis, and always sell-able at any point for nearly what you paid for it new. God I love hardware.

With Guitar Center's current promotion you could get one brand new for $499. With these new features it's now very tempting...

I don't have a problem with that feature of course, but, I wouldn't care if it wasn't there either.

Of course in the studio it doesn't really matter. But when I'm on stage singing, playing keys and operating a bunch of synths at once I don't have time to manually change patches one knob at a time in between songs.

I love the idea of patch memory, but I'm finding it kind of wonky. It seems the LFO doesnt work properly after switching presets. I thought I read something about a mod wheel needing to modulate the LFO to get control back. IDK, I have to read some more; didnt seem too straight forward though.
I also couldn't seem to get the 'pass through' mode to work, only the other mode for knob snap worked for me. Anyone else??

I love this synth. It's so warm and gets really really growwly when you want it to. I am sad that they were able to do a rev 2 while I'm still waiting for a rev1 minibrute. Le sigh

#firstworldproblems | I think that it's only a firmware update...Moog just advertises it like it was a hardware update...

I finally tried the Minitaur today.
I was doing wup-wup basses to my hearts content, couldn't help myself :D
The bass really sounds killer, the upper registers felt a bit boring, perhaps because of the missing pwm, but I sure would like one for bass duties, especially with the new v2 preset software. Nice filter, obviously, very nice indeed!
