Yeah but that still doesn't give you the normal PWM Square to Pulse etc does it?

Going a little off topic here. So why should I buy sylenth over predator or omni over sylenth or vise versa

I am a fan of Massive, really easy to use once you know what is going on inside the synth

No reason other than a preference of sound. You can grab a demo of most of them and then decide

Ah ok fair enough. I've never delved once into programming Omnisphere. Always get sidetracked with the library presets.

Well, there's also the matter of price. The OP's budget was $200-300 which is a bit of out range for Omnisphere, but would still fit Sylenth1 or Predator.

Zebra, diva, massive, fm8 could be other options

Tru Dat

I'd even argue that he could get Sylenth and a nice reverb plugin (which is pretty crucial for teh tarnce as well) if he doesn't already have one.

Valhalla Room or Eos spring to mind.

Im looking to spending about $200.. and maybe up to $300 if there something truly amazing for the money.. I like to create alot of my own sounds but also like to have a good supply of "good" presets for the days i dont feel like making synths. feedback would be appreciative, and possible "soon" before my wife gets ahold of me for a new pair of shoes...
There are lots of great synths that will fit the bill here. I would look at Sylenth1, Predator, Diva and Z3ta 2. They all have a ton of great presets. I find myself using Predator for Reason and Sylenth on everything these days. Diva is my favorite synth I have but its not as versatile as Sylenth especially.

You can use anything really, but personal favourites at a very low pricepoint would be Valhalla Room and Audio Damage Eos.

Eos is particularly easy to use and its hall algorithm is pretty much set and forget in terms of tweaking, and it almost always sounds awesome.

Both are cheap too.

My Recordings/Credits

Some of my favorites include DiscoDSP - Discovery Pro, which is a Nordlead emulator. The Tone2 soft synths are really nice for Trance music as well. They have lots of funky arpeggiators like Cakewalk's Zeta2 mentioned earlier. I also really dig Image Line's Harmor, very unique and it sounds fantasitic.

While Diva is great, there are other synths out there too, especially for trance.

You should really do some demoing yourself because there are tons of great synths out there that are different from eachother.
I'd throw in a vote for Tone2 but I want them for myself :P
Next on my todo list is to demo the Predator rack extension.

It all depends on what you want out of a synth. Do you just want a simple subtractive VA synth, rompler, one with wavetables, hybrid, emulation?

in my completely ignorant, narcissistic, and mal-formed opion:

FabFilter Twin 2.

I think it's the best subtractive software synthesizer in the world for me. Diva would be #2.

Plenty of trance presets if you want them, but even better, the most amazing modulation system I've ever seen. I use to think it should essentially be the go-to software for teaching synthesis but then realized if one learned everything one knows about modulation on it then one would have a high likelyhood of being disappointed at every approach to a modulation matrix/interface on other synthesizers from there on out.

As of the moment and some 3 months prior to this moment, it's the only synth I use aside from FM8.

I'll edit this in just a moment with some songs in which every non-percussive element is generated by it.

Also, if you have a vst3 compatible host you're also essentially getting their Volcano filter plugin for free as well by merit of the audio input and their modulation system being identical across their entire product lineup.

Last but not least, it seems the large majority of people why try it tend to hate it, so it probably sucks but somehow or another it coincidentally aligned just right with my brain to induce absolute love. I warned you!

Thanks Worm

Yes, you might want to try Oxium/

Stellar analog sound, but also unseen possibilities regarding trance gate/dubstep/sequences/ChordSequences effects with the new Masque modulator. + Flexible double filter architecture with formant filter etc.

A typical mono bass or lead will take around 6% on my antique 9650 quadcore PC, and with 4 voices huge unison its only 19%. Should be more easy with modern CPU. So you can compare that to ther modern VA softsynths.

you can try the demo and/or listen to a lot of demos at HOME

Its only serial protected, and the price is more than fair. ( 99 )
