any xferrecords nerve users?

Nerve | Xfer Records

wow, i just recently discovered nerve and i am very impressed with this little beast. anyone using this? i downloaded the demo but it doesnt come with many drum sounds so i was wondering what you guys think of the internal sounds? i imagine ill be using my own sample mostly but it would be nice to have some options as well. the sequencer is great and it is so fast and easy to get patterns going and lots of options for mangling the sound.

i'm actually thinking of selling my korg esx and using nerve as my main drum box.
what do you guys think?

thanks in advance

Been using it for while. Really like it. My workflow is pretty diffrent. I use one. Instance of nerve for Kick, snaps, hats, etc. Then another nerve for percussion.

I don't think I've ever heard a bad thing about it, but I've certainly heard plenty of good. I should probably be getting one for myself soon.

It's a great plugin though I must say it is a bit overpriced at $200.

yah I think that was a bit misleading on Steve's part, promising certain features in updates, saying it would be updated regularly...and then not.

but if you log in to the member's area and download the beta (which is not listed on the main site) it's a pretty good product.

Nope. But i guess it depends on how many automations you use and if you squeeze it fully.

This thing is amazing. Awesome little blue thing.
The sounds are awesome.
Some fantastic kits, actually I have not heard better when it comes to a plugin. It is very close between Nerve and Spark.

I create almost full tracks with Nerve alone.
It is so easy to learn and the sequencer is fantastic.

CPU hog well maybe but i would be running as a multi channel instrument and use only 1 or 2 instances of it.
Very good bit of software, very good!!

Thanks for the nice words on Nerve!

I've been slow on releasing formal updates, however to my defense I have already released 64 updates to the program for all registered users, which is well more than most products have in an entire lifespan.

There's been a pretty large array of feature additions during that time period (Mix window, precalc reverb and parametric EQ, special builds for iPad/Monome/Lemur/PadKontrol, MIDI and Audio Render export via drag-and-drop, and hundreds of other feature additions and enhancements.

In my estimation it is plenty to call it 2.0, or at least a 1.5, but I've left it as 1.01 for the time being. There are more features on the way (which are mostly completed and just commented out in code) and if you feel there is anything I have promised but not delivered on you can of course contact me about that.

In any case, thanks again for the nice words, and I am fairly active on developing Nerve still, good stuff is in store!

Best Wishes,
Steve

Nerve totally rocks massively!
Forget all the bog standard vst drum machines. Nerve is the one you want.
Just discovered a brilliant sound pack for it - although I do like the sounds that come with it - but this one is really good and totally useable

I always thought drum sequencers were a pointless addition if you had for example drum racks in Live...however Ive been testing Nerve and Im really suprised how much it helps making beats...and its not bloated like some of the others - quick and straightforward...I think Im gonna have to buy it at some point...

Yer me too, been thinking about buying it for a while i have Maschine but thats more an MPC style thing whereas Nerve seems more TR style.
Can you drag and drop audio from Nerve into Cubase, even better can you drag and drop individual audio parts from Nerve into Cubase as audio.
Bugs me you cant do that with Maschine, drag and drop all audio or nothing, why not individual parts?

I haven't used it yet but I just wanted to say that it's great that Steve himself replied on the thread.

More of gearslutz should be like this.

yeah I checked and there are all sorts of ways you can move audio and MIDI into the DAW...

Steve seems pretty responsive on the forums...seems like good management - things added etc...Ive got a Padkontrol and there is a special padkontrol build which creates a sequencer on the pads - as well as some others I think...

The PadKontrol build is excellent. They make a great combo.
The tutorial videos for Nerve are well worth watching,I found them a quick way to get to know my way around it.
Wish i'd bought Nerve ages ago. It's the first drum plug-in that's really clicked with me.Very intuitive

Xfer nerve is excellent.
I kind of wish there was a "Maschine" build the same way there is a PadKontrol one, however wrong that is !?

can Nerve be used to trigger MIDI hardware? Im trying to route MIDI out of Nerve in Live and dont seem to be getting results...I assumed in Live using Nerve on one channel - then opening another and selecting Nerve as its MIDI input and arming it would suffice...

I use Nerve to get the percussion going in all my tracks - the workflow is great! Also, I needed to get urgent support once and got fantastic, timely support so two thumbs up!

I know you can trigger other soft synths with it but not sure about hardware though.

Hadn't really heard of Nerve before, but after checking out YouTube vids, it looks pretty sweet! I've missed a fast beat-making workflow since ditching FL Studio in favor of Reaper.

And this video w/ the Padkontrol looks especially awesome. Who needs a Maschine?

OOC, does Nerve ever go on sale? With Black Friday and the holidays coming up, it would be nice to get it at a discount.

Eh.... so I downloaded the Nerve demo to try.... Unfortunately it seems to have a bug with the nag window constantly popping under the VST (which is windowed due to being 32-bit and bridged). So I'm constantly losing the ability to control my DAW as a result, making it almost impossible to demo the thing properly.

Shame, it looked at first glance to be really intriguing but the demo has completely turned me off this program. Oh well, at least Geist is on sale again!

That is a shame. When I had the demo I recall it being a timed out thing after 30 mins. It was enough for me to want it though but if you dont even get that far it will put you off.

I do think Xfer could take $50 off the price. They would sell a lot more of them. But I did hear the owner Steve wasnt to interested in selling a lot of them as he would have to deal with a lot more people. Hes a one man op. But wouldn't a lot more sales allow him to employ someone to take care of that for him?
Still, Its an excellent VST drum machine. Easily my favourite one Ive ever had.
