I got one two years ago on Craigslist for a good price, and it's a lot of fun. Before that the only Waldorf products I had were the PPG VST and the 4-pole module.

I had a Micro Q once. It has very nice sound and packed with many features. The matrix editor is pretty easy to navigate. I sold it to fund a Virus C desktop that I still have. Nothing against the Micro Q. I just wanted the Virus.

Browsing (well, if I'm honest, stumbling) through the patches tonight without really knowing what I'm doing. I must say the keyboardwiz You Tube demos were on the mark...this thing sounds pretty darn wicked for what it is - a good but not all conquering VA synth. I'm already thinking about voice expansion for it...though sounds like those boards are long out of production. Maybe this is my entry level Waldorf drug...
Not the most straightforward interface though - so may need to invest in a librarian/programmer but maybe I just need to send more time with it.
Also, I need to find a Logic template...

Anyone have any insight as to how to get the Mod Wheel functioning? It seems to respond to pitch bend or other messages okay but the mod wheel seems to have no impact on the patches. Weird...

I love my mQ. There's a free java based editor out there, but the site was down last time I visited. What color? The build between the yellow face and the blue/phoenix versions is different. Voice expansions for the yellow are long out of date, but Waldorf had some for the others for sale on the mailing list a couple years back. Not on the list anymore, so I don't know if they are still in stock. I use the K2000 to control my mQ, and the mod wheel works fine.

I still haven't been able to solve the Mod Wheel problem and I've checked with another controller. It has to be some setting but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to navigate to it. I don't see a modwheel On/Off setting.
The Java editor is a bit funky - it seems to work okay for patch changes but I have to wire the midi cables in a specific way to get it to work at all and then it seems to crash frequently.
It sounds tremendous though....which makes this modwheel issue all the more frustrating.

Weird... | Go to "matrix", choose one slot, set the moodwheel as a source, set the destination and the amount and it should work (you can also set it up as a source on other modulation slots outside the matrix, like f.i. as PWM source).

It is just not recognizing Controller 1 data at all. I even recorded midi data from another synth, then assigned the track to the microQ but still it isn't flying.
Taking a deep dive in the manual over the next few days...we'll see...

Not sure I want to downgrade the OS since it is the latest version...but do wonder if I just reload it if it won't "flash" it and change whatever setting back to normal.
I've never had to do a sysex update like this so I really don't want to brick it...then again seems like instructions are pretty simple.

Okay - not sure how I cured it but I did. Ended up turning it on and off....unplugging the power supply and resetting the Global W X Y Z parameters.
If someone has a MicroQ that's acting predictably, I'd love to know where your Global Parameters are set, especially the W X Y Z parameters.
Reason? I'm not so sure that when I got back the mod wheel, I didn't somehow change the channel pressure/aftertouch....but can't be sure.
Thanks!
