Arturia Spark - midi learn (in CDM)

Thought about buying Arturia Spark. But the hardware controller seems kinda uncomfortable to me
(pads).
I've heard rumors that these are bad. Plus I've heard that there is no midi learn function
in the CDM version (??),
so you have to use the Arturia controller. Is that true?

I'd like to use Spark with my Akai controller (pads), if the Arturia hardware doesn't match my needs.
Of course, the Spark controller is for everything else, Akai pads just for recording.
VDM is not an option because of the limitations.

So, is there a midi learn function in the CDM version?

I got Spark and I was actually trying to find out that

Hi, I've gotten spark yesterday. Actually, i am in the forum trying to figure out if there is a learn function or not. So, in other words, your concern may be right because i could not find the learn function in the Spark software. It is funny, I have their keyboard controller (laboratory 49 keys) but I cant use knobs or anything.... These companies are being way too aggressive. I'm trying to get rid of Avid/M-audio gear for that reason. But I've realized about Arturia till now. How can they sell and promote a keyboard controller full of knobs, pad and sliders but at the same time, they disable the midi learn capabilities of their own software???

i'm pretty sure that every parameter (at least on the main screen) of the spark software accepts control via midi cc value. i just tested assigning the main cutoff knob to a knob on my oxygen49, and it worked no problem.

i used the "Learn" function that's native to reaper and plugins though, i'm not sure if there's one built into the spark software...i have the controller so i never explored that. and yeah i just use the reaper learn whenever i need to set that up with a plugin

also i know that each pad is a specific midi note, taking velocity into account. so far i've found that b1 (i think) is the note of instrument 1...i haven't figured out the rest of the pads because i was only trying to isolate the kick drum.

tl;dr

i have spark and i think you could totally configure your akai controller to play with it.

also i like the pads a lot

SPARK's learn function

Hi There,

SPARK does have a learn function; To access it either Ctrl+click on windows or cmd+click on mac on the parameter you want to assign external control to, a pop-up window will appear with a learn button. All you need to do is click the button and turn/press/twiddle/(etc) the control on your external hardware. This functionality is not available on every single parameter in SPARK but most of them do have it.

Great product, Arturia.

No more concerns here. Especially the sound quality is great.
Highly recommendable and usable.
