The photos helped to sell that synth.

There is another available for $7,499 so you still have a chance to get one. Buy It Now and Resell It Later for $15,000.

ridiculous. i've always wanted one though :( and an odyssey—though mostly because it was the main synth john foxx used on Metamatic, which has always been one of my favorite records.

Actually, the OMG part was not the part that it was a vintage synth but the fact that someone could pay 12Gs for it!!

I bought my first 2600 in 74 or so for 1500 (dealer cost). My second one in 1978. Both gladly gone now. But gheez... 12 grand? There are only about $60 worth of parts inside those things... not to mention the cheap guitar amp-type spring reverb screwed inside. Glad I got those out of my system in the previous century.

eBay is really weird right now. It seems like average or more recent synths cannot find any buyers. Some decent synths getting no bids.

The rare or very desireable stuff is still fetching real premium prices.

Agreed. Only about 4 months or so ago, I read, on Muff, a thread that went, "$9K for a 2600 is too much to pay"! But now look at what has happened! :P

My Recordings/Credits

The $12k 2600 is probably going to sit nicely on someone's mantle. Then when people come over and look at it, the owner can say "don't touch that. I paid $12k for that". And the person will ask if the owner if he can play it, and he will say "no I don't play. it's a delicate piece of art."
