Eowave Ribbon synth and controller

Anyone here own this thing? I'm looking for a (much) cheaper alternative to the Haken Continuum and this one looks cool:

eowave instruments

I have a few questions for owners:

1. First of all, when used as a MIDI controller or using the internal synth, how accurate are the note markings? I want to use it for expressive melodies, but don't want to sound like a tortured cat. How easy is it to hit the intended notes and play in tune (without disabling the pitchbend capabilites of course)?

2. I would like to use it to control analog synths as well, but The manual is not very clear on whether it can send both CV and gate or only CV:

I'd appreciate if someone could clear this up for me. Also, how easy is it to get the note markings on the ribbon to match the CV pitch using an attenuator?

This thing looks like it could be lots of fun, but if I can't play melodies in tune it'll be useless to me.

Thanks!

I've considered buying one of these but stop short at the 'humming and hawing' stage. From what I understand, it outputs CV and gate on a stereo plug.

As for tuning, even the manual says that the pips/markings on the ribbon may not scale exactly depending on the manufacturing tolerances of the ribbon.

My main reason for not taking the plunge is that I'd like to do Ondes Martinot type sounds without dropping the large sum of cash for a French Connection (I don't believe there are any working Ondes left that wouldn't cost in the five figures now). I'm just not sure this is the right tool for the job.

Eigenharp's a possibility but it's also approaching French Connection money. That, and I believe it needs to be tethered to a Mac (or is that just the smaller version?).

It depends on which Eigenharp you buy.

The Pico is not that expensive, at least I got mine for around 350 euros used, and I think it's still pretty cool.

The Eigenharp is cool but not really what I'm looking for.

I've ended up ordering this instead, should get mine around November. Excited! :D
